Gradient Contemporary Ballet, our dance company is keeping busy until the very end of the 2024/25 season – their shows, Reverie and Genezis are performances you can not miss!

Two beautiful modern dance performances will take our audiences on a journey of movement, sound and self reflexion thanks to Gradient Contemporary Ballet’s showings being featured on stage at the Csokonai Fórum Kóti Árpád Stage in May and June.

Reverie – 10 May, 2 June

Comprising two pieces, Reverie invites audiences into the world of desires and dreams, where the dancers explore the depths of human experience. The first piece, Sirius is inspired by Árpád Tóth’s poem From Soul to Soul, which portrays the challenges of connection using the metaphor of the vast distances between stars. The second half, Fine Day features personal stories from young dancers, reflecting their inner worlds and the challenges of the wider world around them. These narratives unfold against Gen Z előd’s electronic music.

Genezis – 30-31 May

This is the first time that three of our talented dancers—Fernando Hernández, Kristóf Juhász, and Valerio Zaffalon—are creating their own choreography, involving the entire company of Gradient Contemporary Ballet Debrecen. Through this, they unleash their creativity and reveal different worlds to the audience.

An Intimate Self-Portrait by Fernando Hernández is an unfiltered exploration of identity, vulnerability, and transformation through movement. My Unbridled Horses by Kristóf Juhász fuses the primal force of Hungarian folk dance with the freedom of contemporary movement. Flesh 1.0 by Valerio Zaffalon takes place in a post-apocalyptic, grotesque world and marks the beginning of a transformation.
