The Csokonai Youth Programme started it's journey in 2014. Since then our goal has been the same: to initiate conversation with younger generations and to open up the theatre - both phisically and intellectually - towards the audience, to inspire mutual creativity.
Part of this are the complex educational plays created by the Youth Programme. These take place in spaces that our target audience is familiar with (mainly classrooms) and focus on themes and stories relevant to their experiences.
We also offer drama classes, creative group activities, community theatre and even workshops for teachers, so we can transform the theatre space into a forum for communication between the locals of our city. We believe these opportunities to cooperate are the essence of a 21st century theatre.
Today's youth are the theatre audiences of the future, so we take great care in creating a programme that truly appeals to the special characteristics demanded by the age of our viewers. We believe that becoming familiar with the symbolic system needed to understand theatre at a yound age, encouraging cultural activity and reflection will help them grow up to be adults with more sensitivity towards both theatre and social issues.
Tens of thousands of young people have attended our events, held at more than 100 different schools, and many artists of Csokonai Thetatre have accompanied and helped us in our projects throughout Hajdú-Bihar County.
