Dániel Somogyi-Tóth

Born in Budapest in 1981. He completed his studies at Bartók Béla Conservatory in piano and music composition, and later graduated in 2006 from Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music with a degree in conducting and as a certified organ player.

After graduating from the Academy, he served as the artistic director and conductor of Békés County Symphony Orchestra from 2007 to 2011, during which time the orchestra was awarded the Prima Prize in 2008.

Since 2009, he has been a regular guest conductor at the Budapest Operetta Theatre, where he has been involved in key stage productions and conducted the theater's international tours.

In May 2011, he became the chief music director of the city of Debrecen. Under his leadership, the audience numbers for the city's musical performances have significantly increased, with the Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra of Debrecen and the Kodály Choir Debrecen regularly participating in prestigious domestic and international productions.

In 2012, he received the Critics' Award.

He is also a regular concert organist and a soloist for Philharmonia Hungary.

As a conductor or soloist, he has performed at renowned venues such as Zurich's Tonhalle, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, Munich's Gasteig, and the Tel Aviv Opera. He has worked with world-famous artists such as Nigel Kennedy, Sir Neville Marriner, Yuri Simonov, András Ligeti, Erika Miklósa, Bobby McFerrin, and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.
